Enter Sirens of TI, a nightly song, dance and pyrotechnic attraction taking place every 90 minutes right on the Las Vegas Strip.  Walk the plank and take your place in the viewing area as the beautiful Sirens of TI lure a band of renegade pirates into their cove with powerful and captivating melodies.  The clash between the mesmerizing temptresses and their rebel prey transforms this 17th century story into a 21st century revelry of song and dance, seduction and danger.

Visitors might better recognize the show as the one Paul Rudd and Seth Rogan ‘shroomed out to in “Knocked Up,” either way it has become synonymous with Las Vegas entertainment. The quality of Mystere is the standard to which all other Strip shows have been compared to since its inception in 1993.

Combining circus style acrobats, comedy, live music and extravagant costumes, Mystere creates a dream-like journey through the origins of life that has inspired audiences for generations. Even with its long tenure and strip-elite status, Mystere hasn’t stopped improving and reinventing itself. The show even recently announced the addition of two new acts into their already impressive lineup.

The acts in Mystere would be better described as spectacles, with performances that include high bars, taiko drums, bungees and trampolines. And the grand yet intimate theatre plays its own indispensable role in the show, constantly adapting to performances and giving the stage and background a sort of liquidity that expands and contracts perfectly around the acrobatics. Be warned: performers are not limited to the stage and frequently include audience members into the act, so be careful where you sit!

Mystere exemplifies the heart of the astonishing aspects that made Cirque du Soleil a household name. So if you are looking for a stunning show in Las Vegas that has already proven the test of time, put Mystere at the top of your list.

Performances are at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Saturday through Wednesday with tickets starting at $69.

You know, the kind that favors honky tonk and bbq to golf clubs and repression. At its new home within Treasure Island, in the coveted spot overlooking Siren’s Cove, Gilley’s has already made its mark on the Las Vegas nightlife scene as its own brand of drinkery. With its dance hall, live music and bikini-clad servers, Gilley’s features the best of both worlds for visitors in search of the anything-goes excitement of a Las Vegas nightclub with the laid-back attitude of their favorite local bar.

 

The original Gilley’s was opened in Pasedena, Texas by southern rocker Mickey Gilley in 1971. Gilley’s quickly gained notoriety as the Texas club for any ambitious outlaw country band to cut their live music teeth on due to the large unruly crowds. So in classic Las Vegas fashion, the successful venue was transplanted onto The Strip inside the New Frontier hotel in 1999. And when Treasure Island was acquired by the New Frontier’s former owner, Phil Ruffin, in 2009, re-opening the historic club became an immediate priority. And it’s no surprise why, Gilley’s features all the qualities that make for a successful Vegas bar: big drinks, great music and great food. Traditional Texas bbq including ribs, brisket and pulled pork is served from 11 am on and Gilley’s drink menu consists of every possible way to serve whisky, or take your drink with you in a boot souvenir cup.

 

But don’t fill up too much to two-step because when the band starts rockin’ you won’t want to miss your chance to show off your line-dancing skills on the Gilley’s dance floor. So boot scootin’ boogie on down to Treasure Island Las Vegas to experience The Strip’s wildest whiskey joint. Boots and buckles are recommended but not mandatory.
