This week in Las Vegas, May 9 – 12, 2013, you can go off your diet and indulge in one too many cocktails because the food extravaganza also known as Uncork’d will be happening and you will definitely need to treat yourself. This is a four day event that includes some serious eating and plenty of opportunities to engage your inner foodie in some decadence and food education. Pace yourself because four days of heavy lifting at the dinner table can definitely take their toll.

I’ll be at the Gordon Ramsay Master Series Dinner but I’m thinking you should be at the Michel Richard Gourmand dinner. I was there last year and spending an evening with Michel Richard is so very fun. He might grab your face and kiss you but you’ll be okay with it because you might be close to a food coma. There is a huge party at Hakkasan at MGM Grand starting at 9pm. See if you can get yourself in. I hear it is sold out but the truth is, there is always a way to get into a nightclub in Las Vegas, right? Find me, and maybe we can walk in together.

I’ll suggest that you start your afternoon early with Michael Mina poolside at the MGM Grand. He’ll be talking his new pub, PUB 1842 at MGM Grand and you’ll be trying to balance food in one hand and a drink in the other. Your second option for the afternoon allows you to pick between tea at Mandalay Bay and Mixology at Bellagio. You know what I would choose simply because cocktails in the middle of the day should be the norm for anyone in Las Vegas.
Save a lot of space. Don’t eat all afternoon because the Grand Tasting at Caesars Palace will transport you to the mecca for all foodies. More than 50 chefs will be delivering some great food along with over 100 different wines and spirits to sample, all in one location around the Garden of the Gods pool complex. Get there early and bring a huge appetite because you will be amazed at the food available to you from the best places to eat on the Las Vegas strip.

Oysters at Noon at the Mandalay Bay followed by hand crafted cocktail at 2:30 and then another food extravaganza at Bellagio at 8pm. You could do it all in one day and have a food experience that people would envy. If nothing else you have to consider the Bellagio Block Party: Cured, Smoked, Braised, Grilled and Toasted. Oh yeah!

If you can fit in another day of food you’ll have a party with Alain Ducasse at the Mandalay Bay. You can do it.
